History

For more than two decades, this program has been forming in stages.

It began twenty five years ago when Britt Ewing and I created a course called “Performance States Training.” We built on John Grinder's and Judith DeLozier's work from their "Prerequisites to Personal Genius" workshop. Their research into state, attention, and modeling gave us a rigorous foundation. Britt and I asked a practical question. How do you make elite states accessible to ordinary people who want tangible outcomes?

We moved the work out of abstraction and into the body. Instead of explaining peak performance, we designed sequences that allowed participants to enter a flow state. Breath shifted physiology. Posture altered internal representation. Language redirected attention. People did not just discuss the idea of confidence or clarity. They accessed those states and used them to achieve specific goals in their lives.

That work evolved into the course "God Talks to Bungee Jumpers." We paired the metaphor with a physical experience. When someone steps off a platform into the open air, the nervous system reorganizes instantly. There is no debate with gravity. We combined hypnotic inductions, attentional sequencing, and helped participants architect the life they wanted with a direct physiological reset. They jumped, metaphorically and physically. Participants did not talk about courage. They enacted it. The course delivered life transforming results.

Britt and I taught together. Our relationship deepened. Our capabilities were well matched and we expanded each other's abilities. When Britt wasn't teaching, he was Rolfing Olympic athletes, the Joffrey Ballet, and traveling the world to study energy healing modalities. Our friendship grew. He was my best mate (he's Australian) at my wedding. We did adventures together.

When Britt died unexpectedly, something in me couldn't continue with this work. I stopped teaching those programs. I focused on corporate growth, leadership, and organizational development. Years later, I found myself returning to the same questions Britt and I had asked together.

I have experienced remarkable teachers in my life. I studied transformational seminar design across multiple models. I analyzed immersive personal growth formats to understand what produces durable change. I examined community dependent models to see what works and what fails.

Many programs create peak state experiences you can't transfer. Many rely on immersion or repeated attendance to sustain change. Some center solely around the founder and others monetize dependency. Others require two weeks of meditation to get close to the states we create in a single afternoon.

I also studied with teachers who worked directly with energy. Teachers who could perceive what others miss and shift your energy field so you could access more of yourself, integrate it fully, and inhabit the deeper parts of you that form the basis of Human Presence. This was not just theory, but direct, embodied experience. I discovered that such experiences are transferable, that integration can be taught, and that direct knowing is available to anyone willing to engage in the work.

I have worked with people of extraordinary capacities. My work has been to design experiences anyone can access. Experiences that create direct knowing without needing special gifts. Without needing someone to do it for you. Without needing to believe anything.

One major design challenge was inclusivity. The program had to work for someone grounded in Christianity. It had to work for someone practicing Islam. It had to work for someone rooted in Judaism, Sikhism, or Buddhism. It also had to work for secular humanists, atheists, and agnostics. It needed to not get in the way of people interested in shamanistic practices, contemplative disciplines, Toltec processes, energy-healing modalities or none of the above.

The solution was structural, not theological. The program does not describe ultimate reality. It does not introduce cosmology. It does not reinterpret doctrine. It neither validates nor invalidates any belief system. Instead, it creates direct experiences of attention, sensation, relational presence, and nervous system awareness that any human being can access regardless of worldview.

Participants are asked to temporarily set interpretation aside. Not to abandon belief. Not to suspend commitment. Simply to experience first. The guiding principle is that the map is not the territory. During the exercises, we work with the territory. Breath. Posture. Sensory awareness. Internal dialogue. Interpersonal connection. Afterward, you are free to name the experience within your own framework.

One more constraint shaped the evolution. If I teach a state, I must be able to access it myself. If I claim it is transferable, I must teach it so others can access it without me. If the work is sound, participants must be able to teach it further. If it depends on a personality to teach, it is not going to be a part of the curriculum.

The disciplines integrated into the Human Presence Experience include somatic regulation, attentional training, linguistic precision, hypnotic induction, unconscious pattern recognition, and relational attunement. They are sequenced into exercises that produce your own direct experience of what is possible. You will not analyze presence as an idea. You will notice expanded perception. You will feel shifts in your nervous system. You will observe increased clarity in interaction. You will directly feel your energy expand.

The environmental design was equally deliberate. The experience does not require monastic retreat, long meditations, or intensity theater. It takes place in a relaxed setting, in a beautiful location, with spacious pacing and a long lunch. Deep states do not require exhaustion. They require precision, safety and enough enjoyment that your actually want to go deeper.

The program also had to hold the attention of anyone attending. I have sat through long explanations followed by processes that take forever to produce minimal shifts. Poor design wastes time. An effective design arranges experiences in a sequence, allowing each to build naturally on those that came before. The sum becomes greater than the parts.

If there is a defining capability I bring, it is this. I give you a direct experience so the insight does not remain abstract. You will not debate expanded awareness. You will experience seeing more and feeling more. You will not theorize about presence. You will feel it in your body and in your interaction with others.

From the early state work grounded in Prerequisites to Personal Genius, through jumping off bridges to create nervous system reorganization, through years of studying diverse transformational models, the program has evolved into a clear form. The Human Presence Experience is the next evolution of Performance States Training. It creates direct, repeatable experiences that increase your energy, deepen stability, expand perception, and remain fully compatible with any spiritual path or with none at all.
